President McDonald honored at UND exhibit

UND Art Collections has dedicated a permanent exhibition recognizing the exceptional achievements and contributions of individual American Indian alumni who have served as tribal college presidents.

The featured alumni are current tribal college presidents including: Leander “Russ” McDonald, President, United Tribes Technical College, Cynthia Lindquist, President, Cankdeska Cikana Community College, Twyla Baker-Demaray, President, Fort Berthold Community College; Laurel Vermillion, President, Sitting Bull College; S. Verna Fowler, President, College of Menominee Nation. 
They each earned their Doctor of Philosophy from UND, and several also received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University. They are recognized as community leaders based on their commitment to higher education and life-long learning, their visionary contributions to tribal college development and growth, and their dedication to preserving and promoting American Indian cultures.

The American Indian Leaders in Higher Education exhibit opened Nov. 18, 2015, at UND.

This is an outstanding exhibit lasting for our future generations. It also encourages with a message that anything is possible!
