Thunderhawk art at cowboy gathering in Nevada

ON EXHIBIT: UTTC Tribal Art Instructor Butch Thunderhawk holds one of his works, a horse stick, that will be on display during an art exhibit held in conjunction with the 2016 National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. The exhibit, “Greetings From the Northern Plains,” opens January 28 in the Western Folklife Center, Elko, Nevada. The art showing is part of the international arts and cultural festival January 25-30 that features 50 cowboy poets, including several from the Dakotas. The poster artwork for the 32nd annual gathering is by Oglala Lakota ledger artist Donald F. Montileaux. The exhibit is scheduled to run through September 10, 2016, in the center’s Wiegand Gallery.
